fuel pump identity

hi
im off to look at another xantia today any idea how i tell bosch/lucas pumps from each other

all i know is car is a 1994 1.9 d (poss turbo) and keen to run on veg any hints greatfully accepted

Easy:

Lucas: Cold start cable to front of pump
Bosch: Cold start cable to back of pump

If it's a 1.9 TD it will almost certainly have a Bosch pump (not heard of any Lucas ones). 1.9D might be either I guess. A Bosch TD pump is also easily recognisable by the flying saucer on the top. N/A pumps look similar, but check the cold start cable as above.

If you have your car with you, you will easily be able to see the difference.

thanks one and all
its a 1.9dlx with chevrons on the bonnet and its a lucas pump :(

but i bought it anyway £250 with 4 months mot and 2 months tax not the prettiest car every but we have time :lol:
