Correct plugs for a Xantia Activa 2.0 Turbo?

Unread post by MikeO »

I've just replaced the plugs on my 99 Xantia Activa 2.0 Turbo. The motor factors gave me NGK BKR6EZ, which have a single electrode.

The plugs I removed from the car (they were in bloody awful condition - electrodes really eroded) were NGK BKR6EK, which have twin electrodes.

The reach on each of the plugs was identical - is this an either/or - or have they given me the wrong plugs?

I'd say the factor gave you the right ones and the previous owner was trying to go faster with twin electrodes.

Twin electrodes offer longer service life.

IIRC Halfrauds list both types for that engine.

Wouldn't trust their list though.
I used to have a corsa and they had the wrong oil and filter listed for it.
They even told me the drivers handbook and the haynes were both obviously wrong about which oil the car should take.

Never liked twin electrodes, NGK single electrodes are the best you can get VFM and performance wise, replace them every 10k to keep performance spot on.
