gulp..

just brought a '99, Xantia 1905 TD with 113K in a darkish green.. brought blind on ebay, was 895 offered 600 and got it.. from a trader...

Cant believe I am going to have to give up my V6 :(((( just not doing economical miles in it.. will miss it so much..

On the good side, 113K is not a lot, 50 / 50 Veg oil should make a difference to wallet, guess I could look out for a leather interior for it? ...

feeling shaky :((

Sounds alright. Looking forward to the next few weeks blog to find out how well/badly you bought.

We could open a book & the forum users could bet "Won-the-cup" <£300 repairs in 6 months or "bought-a-pup". >£300.

Good luck
'98 Xantia 1.9TD Tempt 2 Estate.

;) thanks

Luckily I know the engines well... Am not scared of a clutch etc..

HPI check is fine.. and my V6 (touch wood) never went wrong, would have been out of my league if it had :O

I'm sure it'll be OK; does sound nice and not a bad price for a S2
- WHAT'S ITS SPEC!?

Was the auction one of those make an offer or did you offer to
buy outside ebay!?

What's the story with the V6 now then? Any info?

its a base LX.. yep 'made an offer' feature...

V6.. well.. I guess I should sell it...

85 K, owned about 1 1/2 years, runs perfectly.. New rear Exhaust (£220!) new front tyres, Comes with one brand new unfitted rear tyre..

Absolutely everything works except drivers seat heat..

:) Gunmetal S plate 1998... MOT about 6 months , Tax about 4 months.
Owned and serviced by Citroen, then one private owner before me, He also had it serviced by them.. Oil is the most golden I have seen..

Full History to about 70K I think

John... SNAP, I now drive a zx 1.9td, cos the V6 and XM got a nasty habit of bashing my wallet.

I quite like the cheap club, I miss the luxury of the V6 though.

yep Deian :( drove it today and couldn't believe it may be one of the last journeys... cant believe i am giving it up... :(

on a different note, all being well I should be driving the new one home on Sunday, from North of Newcastle to South of London... I really dont need any stress.. but should i dive straight in and pour some veg oil in ;) ?

I haven't had a TD for over 2 years, so am in the dark on this.. Car will be Bosch.. Is it as simple as put 10 L of diesel in, followed by 10 L of Vg oil? or do I premix them somehow.. is Veg oil the same as cooking oil, sunflower oil etc?

I will search back through the site when i can..

John
When i first tried veg i put in 6 litres first, didnt top up with any diesel, i did check that the oil mixes well with diesel and it doesnt take any time at all. I wouldnt put any in until you've done the journey home, and given it a good service so you know where you stand, in case any problems arise you may assume its the fuel at fault when it could be something else.

I use normal vegetable oil with is 100% rapeseed, its the cheapest and most easily available.

Well, got dad to do citaerobics and boot sitting tests, and suppleness tests..all ok

hot air fine, AC doubtful

Clutch pedal an inch higher but no relaese bearing noises and clutch not believed too stiff

Engine been cleaned nicely, oil good water good.

Apparently it has a 'T in a circle' button next to AC .. what could this be?

Thats the traffic master thing. It can be very annoying sometimes when flicking between running and accessories key positions and it decides to tell you the subscription has run out but if you press the button it should turn it off if it starts blabbering away :)
