Clio 1.2 16v 02 Plate Misfire

Unread post by RS2000CUSTOM »

I have looked through various archives but have not found an answer to my particular problem.

Vehicle idles as though low on power and misfires on 2 cylinders (drops off No 1 & 4 cyls)

"submarine" warning light comes on when driving

OBD laptop says misfire on 1 & 4 ! (yeah I got that bit - lol)

No sensors or components listed as faulty :?:

This model has a single coil with leads

Before I buy a coil and a set of plugs has anyone had similar issues ?

You can do an ohms check on the HT leads. Should be something like 10K-20K ohms between 2 HT leads in a pair - because of the wasted spark principle. My guess its exactly 1&4 and 2&3 you have as pairs.

Otherwise you may run the engine in complete darkness (bonnet open  ) and look for any small or vague bluish arcing on the ignition system components.

How about if I put my tongue on the leads with engine running ?

Would it be like testing a 9v battery ? - lol lol lol

If wasted spark is used on Clio's then that only pushes me more to it being coil

Will check OHM's - thanx
