ZX 1.4i cambelt cover

Unread post by KEB1 »

Hi All,

I noticed yesterday that the two lugs securing the top cambelt cover have become brittle and broken off.
No problem I thought, just order a new one up from the dealer.
However, when I went to pick it up, it was quite a bit different to the one on the car.
Apparently, the covers have been revised since our 93 model and it seems that you have to replace all three.
The cost is not bad (for Citroen) but there is quite a bit of work involved, especially as I have got PAS.
I picked one up from a scrapper, but this a bit frayed around the edges as well.
Does anyone know if theses have ever been available as an aftermarket part ?
Has anyone else had this problem and, if so, how did you resolve it.

All the best,

Kristian.

Can't you improvise with self tapping screws, nuts and bolts or pop rivets (which are easily removable with the correct size drill)?

Just need to make sure they won't fall out or touch anything (like the inside end touching the cambelt)

I thought about pop riveting a strap onto it and drilling through to take the stud.
However, as you say, you have to be damn sure that it all lines up correctly and the other snag is it has become brittle over time and might crack if I try to modify it.
The above would very much be a last resort.
