My estates paint has seen better days, and is very dull.
Does anyone know of a good polish that will bring this up again? T-Cut is the traditional favourite, but was wondering if there were any good, modern polishes on the market for such a thing.

The previous owner of our Mk4 Escort used the Mer range of products on the car and the paintwork is like new on it with a deep shine to it. Seems to do its job very well in protecting the paint
I myself use the Autoglym range of products on the cars that we own. If its good enough for Jaguar and Aston Martin Lagonda then (as it says as used by.... on the bottles) then its good enough for the cars in my sig.
All the best - Craig.

If you use T-cut, then it'll get rid of the old dead paint to a shine - but the paint is now unprotected and will go dull very quickly unless a polish is applied to "seal" the new paint surface. Just about any decent polish will do - Autoglym/Mer seems to be favourites. Apparently the original Turtle Wax (in tins) is still one of the best - but it's appetite for elbow grease is unbelievable - hence the modern trend for the modern resin ones like the aforementioned.
If it's an irredescent and dull, chances are it's the clear top coat that has dulled so be careful as trying to cut a dead clearcoat will not only make it duller, but can damage the colour coats.
With the irridescents, it is sometimes logical to have a fresh clearcoat sprayed over to make it look almost as new again. Might be a good idea to try on a small patch in a not too obvious place before proceeding too far.

I bought some stuff called "WetPaint" from the USA. I think it's brilliant. I think the previous owners of my car cleaned it with a brillo pad!! the paintwork was NOT good.. I then got this WP and used it just once, the pic was taken about a week after I had done the car...
The bad news? importing one unit is very expensive!!! I imported a pack of 6, total cost was £90, but I have already sold 3 lots, and could have sold them all!! but I have no wish to sell anymore..
WP works extremely well on glass, mirrors etc, but.. it does NOT work on rubber or rough textures such as my ZX bumpers, you can see in the pic it tends to make the bumper grey.. I have re-blacked the bumpers now so the car looks very smart.. The ZX still looks very shiny after 6 weeks with no further cleaning!
Decided to add a pic of the Honda that was also cleaned with WP. Again the black rubber inserts on the bumpers went grey, and I had to reblack them..

As an alternative to T cut, I have been using Farecla G3 compound which I find much easier to use.
According to the guy in the paint factors I use G3 is a much better product on modern paints as it is a more up to date formula than T cut which apparently has never changed since it was first on the market.
For me G3 wins hands down!
