Swapping door lock barrels.

Post by handyman »

Does anybody know if the lock barrel assemblies from the Xantia range will fit as replacements for worn ZX locks? Our ZX has got worn lock barrels and intermittent central locking after 14 years of use and abuse, yet my Xantia with 250K miles on the clock still has good locks and a working central locking system.

As I have overhauled and rebuilt most of the ZX in the years we have owned it, the duff locks seem to be the last little niggle to resolve.

Hi Wheeler,
It's not the locks I want to change, just the barrel assemblies. The locks are working fine, it's just the tumblers inside the locks seem to be made from lead.
How do you know this wont work? Have you personal experience?

I have a complete door lock set for a ZX that you are welcome to for the cost of the postage. I bought a complete set when the ignition barrel failed. Unfortunately my ZX has gone on to meet its maker!

PM me with a telephone number if you are interested.
