A link I've seen posted here before and bookmarked for this ind of thing:

and this is handy too:

Question is really whether you want a TOTALLY rigid ride from the lower side
section tyres - you may not mind, but your passengers may!

This month's TopGear magazine see's Clarkson likening most modern
sports suspensions to the feeling he'd expect if being swept by a tidal
wave through a crazy golf course!!

We had a Xsara at work with non standard wheels, don't think they were as big as that and it was atrocious. On anything but a completely smooth road it would skip and hop around corners and the back end could get quite lively and unpredictable.

Yes - you are exactly right - on the description of your future ride :)

BTW : have you got more than 200W power on the bass speaker in the boot ?

i bought a cheap xr3i cabby with, believe it or not, 19 inch alloys....handling was interesting (and on full lock the tyres touched the insides of the wings) :(

sold em for a nice bit of dosh on flea bay though

can never understand why people want to make cars slower by lowering, bigger wheels etc.....on anything not totally smooth (eg a racetrack) you spend a lot of time on low grip as your car pogos down the road....

years ago i bought a really cheap salvage sierra cosworth lookalike....the bits that hadnt scraped down the trees looked really good :D

the car had been lowered with bigger wheels and from the tyre and wing damage it looked like he had been mid corner and the offside wheel had fouled the wing..... cue exit from corner and entrance to wood :o

i am 24 year old with two kids. no chaved up boy racer with his lexus lights and bass tube. just thought that the dismal 185/65/14 that i had on the car were utter s**t. to much roll in the tyre wall. bit of beans round a corner and the tyres wanted to give up. now got a set of 15inch bk racing wheels with 195/50s on. car behaves alot better for it plus the ride comfort is about the same. thanks all. jamie
