That is crazy! I've seen them reach no more than a fiver in the past.

You're right Colin, cheaper to get a comple car. It is not beyond the realms of possibility someone may give you one for free.

If you're looking to replace it because of your duff backlight, hang on a bit and I'll look into how to do it. Failing that, pick up a radio at a scrapyard and make one good one from two. The Totter will likely want very little for one, especially if they don't know the code.

If you're anywhere near me in North Bucks, I'll fix it for you

EDIT: Just seen you're in Poole  I'll be down that way in a few weeks on holiday in the New Forest :D

Must be the "iPod" port which makes this one a gem..

Hang fire - don't get too excited. Can you guarantee the winner bidder
will follow through with nice folding pictures of the Queen! Maybe his 3yo
kid 'accidentally' bid on it for him...

The vsx 4030 is the one to get, although the sx 3030 has the ipod port
on it too so it's not THAT big a deal - most likely be down to the higher
output quality of the sound.

I too, wish I hadn't given some of my spare 4030's away now! :?

unless the seller is bidding on his own item to push the price up  there must be two nuggets bidding this up.....

i saw this at a car auction once, i was looking at a rover 218td that i valued at about 600 squid... these two families started bidding against each other and bid it up to near enough dealer price

the difficult bit is finding two nuggets to bid against each other :D

I've actually seen this happen before, unfortunately I was bidding against
them and only realised after the auction had finished by going into the
feedback history - devious as there were 2 bidders against me...

- that said, the Xantia 2.0i VSX I bought still only fetched £102

That's what gets me when some sellers relist an item again after it finishes
high but the winning bidder doesn't follow through; the auction seller is the
only one now who can view the bidders ID's where it goes over 100quid so
could contact the running up bidder. I've seen relists go for virtually
nothing compared to the first auction!!

yeah flea bay is filled with sharks but there are definate bargains to be had on there..... just keep your wits about you dont spend more than you can afford to lose and use sniping software to keep the price down (and discourage shillers)

that is one cheap xantia! i did buy a xantia on there for about 150 quid where all that was wrong with it was a snapped height adjuster rod....easy fix easy money

Just to help put things in perspective regarding this radio auction:

The previously mentioned VSX wasn't my best Citroen ebay purchase
by a long way. Last year I bought a 2.0i VSX manual R plate saloon s1
in a very nice cobalt blue metallic with excellent alloys/tyres, black
leather and WORKING air WITH a 4030 radio fitted and working with
NO other bidders!!

£50

I still can't work out why either - football may have been on or something!

Still had a months' MOT and tax so I bought a one way train ticket and
drove it home WITHOUT ANY MISHAP barring the risk of points on my
licence for trying out the 16v motor! Free week's insurance thanks to
Mr Ebay and Norwich Union too - worth doing if just to have a laugh at
their quote IF you take them up on the policy!

Not sure if good ebay bargains are still out there at the moment as
suggested; everyone wants a slice of the action now and they bid
more than things found in the freeads...

So, what was wrong with it?

Cracked windscreen. Seller was all for scrapping the car too as he just
wanted the space!!

A local mobile glass fitter will fit one I saved out a scrapped Xantia for £40
when I get round to using it - other events overtook the plans I had
at the time for it, but it's such a smart car I WILL get it up and running
and in use.

Crazy thing; it cost me £50 to have the front windscreen removed
professionally along with the two estate side window glasses as I
couldn't bear to see them trashed on the otherwise gutted bodyshell!
