Electric mirrors + rear light clusters

The electric mirrors on my Xantia don't work. I've obtained the trim around the drivers door handle, including the mirror switch.
Do you think replacing the switch will get the mirrors working again? If so, how do I do this? I couldn't seem to get the trim off! Please bear in mind I am a complete numpty - my father is away at the moment so am wondering whether its best to leave it to him!
Also, I've just got a set of rear light clusters as well - as my old ones were really faded and looked terrible. New ones look great. How do I replace them?

If neither of your mirrors work, then it could be the switch. You have to take the door arm off, and perhaps the trim panel ( torx screws around the edge ) if you need to do any serious cabling investigation.
With regards to the light clusters - go into the boot, and pull out the lining from each rear corner, feel inside and you will find a "butterfly" nut. Undo this, and the light cluster will come out slightly. Don't pull too hard as you have to undo the wire block from the cluster - from start to finish including changing one bulb, less than 60 seconds.

Had a quick feel under the trim, found the back of the light cluster but cannot find the wingnut. Am I being dumb and missing it in an obvious place?

You can't really miss it !
Imagine you're putting your hand dead centre in the back of the light cluster, you'll feel it there.
It's not that big, about the size of a 1p.

Found the nut

All done - well, the ones on the boot anyway.
Next problem is changing the ones on the actual tailgate - I tried to unclip them for about 15 minuites without any success - does anyone know how to get these out?
Car looks so much better with the faded ones gone
