Put MK2 radio into my MK1 Xantia - steering controls n/w

Hi,

I got given the radio from a MK2 Xantia, the one with a DIN socket for a CD changer, by a friend and have put it in place of the radio in my MK1 Xantia.

Trouble is that the steering controls for volume, seek, etc., won't work for the newer radio despite all the connector sockets on the back being identical.

The original radio was the old Blaupunkt type, and the new one is the Clarion PU-1562 A.

Does anyone know much about the radios, and maybe has an idea why the steering controls now won't work?

Apart from the different makes of radio, Mk2 models have more buttons on the steering wheel.

I presume it's down to different coded signals to and from the radio/steering wheel.
