1.9TD timing belt roller removal

Post by Xaccers »

Replacing the belt, tensioner and roller on my 1.9TD, and having dificulty taking the roller off.

I've undone the three bolts, but can't get it off.
There seems to be a large brass torx head which fits in the hole which I've ringed in this pic:

Anyone know if it needs to be screwed in to remove the roller, if so what size torx is it, or am I missing an easier way to remove the roller?

Thanks to citrojim we now know how to remove it.
You have to take off/loosen the engine mount from the side of the engine :)

You are nearly there, just slacken off the remaining bolts in the front engine mount and the idler roller will pull out,or drop out and hit you on the head if you are laying under the car!!

We put the new one on no trouble, tightened up the engine mount, went to fit the new tensioner, and found that the dowel that it pivots on was bent.
So off to citroen tomorrow to order a replacement.
