Hi All,
I am going to have to try to replace clutch on the 16v. To have it done is more than car is worth probably. I tried to sell it on here, at a price that would make it worthwhile--car + clutch cost= still cheap car. No takers. Anyway.
My question is: on the Bx, when you take out a drive shaft, you had to have a short length of say broomstick ready to insert in diff to stop sunwheel gears from dropping down, as the second shaft is removed. Is this the same on Xantias???
I will have to hire a hoist to lift gearbox back up. There was a time when I could roll gearbox onto chest, heave up, and jerk box into position with knee. My head says I can do it still---my body says sod off
Thanks,
Greg

No broomstick needed (although you might think you need a bit of witchcraft to change a Xantia clutch!) - just pull the shafts out. You will struggle to lift a 'box back in on a 2.0 - it uses the same pull clutch as the TD, which is a bit of a fiddle to re-engage. Do-able with a trolley jack, but much easier with an overhead lift. Surprisingly well covered in Haynes!
