Citroen/Pug radio codes

Post by lolingram »

How does one tap in numbers like 0, as well as over 6? I assume that the staion buttons are used for code entries?

Cheers,

Read the instruction book!!!!!

Yes we've all bin there, I put in the code over and over again assuming that button 1 was for 1 and 2 for 2 so on and on.

But it aint.

If the code is 2683

Press button 1 x 2 times for 2
Press button 2 x 6 times for 6
Press button 3 x 8 times for 8
Press button 4 x 3 times for 3

I think to get a 0 you have to press the button 10 x, but I am sure that the numbers are displayed when you input them.

Regards
Slim.
PS It's not girlie to read the instruction book first, it's just that us blokes dont do it this way!!!

What radio are you talking about as there are different procedures for some of the radios.

Two Xantia Estates:

1999 HDi 90 with CD autoplayer
1997 XUD with Radio/K7

I have the codes (written into the handbooks) for both - hopefully correct - I just don't want to disconnect batteries until I know how to proceed, thanks.

On the 99 car, the radio code is entered by pressing the number button on the radio relating to the code number. i.e. If the code is 4351 you press button 4 then 3 then 5 then 1, you cannot therefore have a number within the code higher than 6 as there are only 6 buttons on the radio

On the 97 car I don't recognise what you mean by K7? Normally the radio's on MK1 Xantia's are 2030, 3030 or 4030 depending on the level of trim i.e LX, SX, VSX.

I have a link to radio code software that uses your serial number etc to work out the possible codes.
Would it be within forum rules to post it or should I pm it?

Well... the MK2 HDi has a number including 0 and 9...

K7 means cassette - sorry current French!

As did the supplied radio code on my V6,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,It didn't work and was totally different from the code I've since managed to track down via a local dealer's parts department who looked it up on the Citroen website.

What trim level does the MK1 car have?

I think that I will stick to keeping the radio fed with 12V if the battery is disconnected...
Thanks for the info and help.

The 97 Xantia is 1.9 XUD Temptation, and fitted with std Radio/Cassette for the model as far as I know.

Just to muddy the waters a little.......

On the 3040 and 4040 radios, you press 1, then select the first number by pressing the up or down key, then press one, then the second number using the up/down keys, then press 1 etc..

Nice to have consistent instructions , isn't it?

I tried various types of software but couldn't find the right one, so I contacted a local dealer who didn't charge me, he even gave me the code over the phone :D
