Xantia Towbar

Post by jgra1 »

all, I have one, looks like a genuine part from Citroen! even has it's own plate with various numbers and so on... like a VIN plate.. and Citroen logo

anyway, is it fairly easy to install? I am not worried about doing the electrics, but will i need to drill holes in boot etc for the main mountings, or are they factory done?

car is V6 series 2...

Should be easy enough on a MK11 - it should be pre drilled. I expect you will need to remove the back bumper though to get to the mountings. Picking up the supply for the fog lights can be intereting, but I understand there was a fitting kit which was just a plug in jobby.

John, I cannot comment on the pukka Citroen one but the Witter one is a very easy job to fit. No holes need to be drilled as far as I remember but two need opening out a little. There is even a convenient hole for the electrics.

The longest job was taking the rear bumper off. Series 2 cars need a small piece cut out of the rear bumper with the Witter.

The V6 should be a wonderful towcar :D What are you going to be towing with it?

Don't forget the obligatory "If you can read this, I've lost my caravan!" bumper sticker :)

thanks all ;)

I have no reason to fit it, except its in my way and i am short of room ;)

got a feeling it may be a witter but definately marked up as Citroen part .. anyway...

I sold my car trailer last week to! see even less of a reason to need it.. but still , guess it wont hurt. Could pull my motorbike around on it.. maybe go holidaying in the alps or somewhere ;)

Yes! and when I fitted mine I didn't need to remove the bumper.

Just like every time I throw something away, thinking I'll never use that...

Fit it, if nothing else a towbar is very good protection for people who run ito the back of you. It has happened to me on several occasions, most recently on a Pelican. I stopped on amber but the Jag behind did not. Bang! Xantia damage nil, Jag, bent bumper and reshaped front valance.
