Can't seem to get to the bottom of it completely although of late it hasn't been too much of a problem.
I think at times they do maintenance and if you happen to be trying to post at the time, you get caught in the middle of it and providors never seem to advise about these things unless thay have a major catastrophe.

Hi Alan,
I think I've mentioned this before (as I'm somewhat familiar with phpBB, or at least used to be) but I'm pretty sure this problem is caused by a typo in a members email address in their profile.
The triggering event is when anyone tries to post to a thread for which this member (or members, there could be more than one person with the problem) has chosen "watch this topic for replies".
When phpBB tries to email notification of new replies the email address typo causes an error.
As an admin can you scan a thread known to have this problem to see who has it flagged for "watching" ? Or is there a way you can quickly scan through the email addresses of recently logged on users and spot the mistake visually ?
It must be someone who at least logs in occasionally if it still happens on new threads, as they have to start watching a thread after it is created.
Also, could everyone PLEASE check their email address in their profile for typos (like a misplaced dot) and if you find something fix it, and let alan know.
Thanks
Regards,
Simon
