T reg 1.6 petrol senic wont start

had a bit of a fopare when i tried to jump start a T reg 1.6 petrol senic today,put jump leads on to it and the other end by mistake touched across the wrong polarity onto a zafiara WHOOOP!!!!!!!,now after fitting new battery to the senic it cranks over but wont start,the central locking dose not opperate at all now nither dose the hazerd flashers,indicators and interia lighting,at the top right hand side of the instrument panel there is a warning light which is a yellow rectangle with a zig zag line through it that is flashing all the time the ignition is on,HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dont panic !
Its not your 1.st car you're dealing with

At least SOMETHING is working

I believe ALL modern cars have a protection circuit for reverse polarity. It would be nuts if they did not. As the misshap you've had is a really common fault situation - think about road services with mechanics under high time/work stress

In this instance I'm sure you need some precise info from a dedicated Renault mechanic, as I think some kind of a gross fault fuse has burned out somewhere.
Have you looked over all the +12V power lines & ditribution boxes/cables ? Could be a pretty heavy cable that has fused.

i have checked as many fuses as i can find inside the car and under the bonnet,none appear to be gone,i have spoken to a couple of car sparkys i know,both said check all the fuses,i have also spoken to the local renault agent,they say it could have lost all the ECU memorys,which then they would have to re/program it which could cost around £500 squide,OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!

ps. it seems to be the imobaliser which is not functioning

Eeek !!, thats not good,

But most cars have relays wired backwards to protect the ecu's in cases like these, i did a search but couldnt find anything out about the scenic, but i will keep looking

If you can find a link to some circuit diagrams of the electrical system, post the link here and i will see if i can spot a reversed relay, but i recon that all you will need to do is to replace 1 or 2 relays !
