Heater Matrix

I have a 1995 Citroen ZX 1.4i. Everytime a start the car whether cold or having been left for a while, there is a rushing sound of water through the heater matrix i am wondering if this is normal of there is a problem loaming in the future. I know that matrix is leaking slightly as can smell coolant for about 30 seconds when moving the heat control to hot, this doesnt worry to much becuase the car doesnt use much if any coolant. I am thinking that it maybe air in the system. Has anyone else heard this kind of noise in there citroen.
With the engine cold the coolant level is between the min and max in the expansion tank.

Well if the matrix is leaking you shouldn't be surprised to find that just as water can get out, air can get in, and it will get sucked in every time the engine cools and everything contracts.
You will have to live with it until you get it fixed, keep an eye on it until you can.
