ZX Door seal

Post by KEB1 »

Hi All,

Does anyone know if ZX door seals are available as an after market part ?
There's a chunk out of the drivers side seal on our 5 door but Citroen want £75 + VAT for a replacement !

All the best,

Kristian.

Scrapyard is most likely your best bet.

If you are not too far away, I noticed A5 Salvage in Leighton Buzzard had a couple in last week.

I got one from "findapart" a couple of years ago, they sent it by post, I seem to remember it cost altogether about £25 inc postage and took me about half an hour to take the old one off and fit the new one.. :)

Make sure you tap the new one tightly into the corners or you will get an overlap where the ends meet.. Dont ask!

It would seem ebay or the scrap yard would be your best bet! And you can get a few at a time from the scrappers just incase and would probably still cost a fiver!

The door seal looks to be a complex affair, but in actually it is all one piece, :) just prise one end off with a big blunt screwdriver where the joint is at the bottom, and then it's a tug-of-war job till it comes right off. :D

Refitting is a reversal of removing.. Heh heh just kidding!!

To put the new one on I lightly greased all round, then tapped it on starting where the old joint was, then just used the base of my hand to thump it into place as I worked round the door opening. if the joint is to open, or overlaps, the grease will allow you to adjust it a bit by sliding it along slightly..

When its on, spray round it with silicone to prevent it sticking to the door in cold weather.. :)

No

Instead use the small bottle with a brush in the lid

Silicone makes it near impossible to do respray jobs on paintworks, so silicone stains all over should be avoided.
