2003 CITROEN C5 HDI VTR FUEL LEAK

I have recently purchased this car. I noticed that it had a diesel leak in the unit that is accessed from under rear seat. It went in for repair today and I have been advised that the tank is damaged at this point and that it needs a new tank costing £350 ish. This seems an unlikely problem on a car of such low mileage. Has anybody else suffered in this way? What can cause the aperture to the tank to become distorted?

I'd say get a second opinion from another garage before slimming your wallet :?

Not an uncommon fault on citroens with pastic fuel tanks, once you remove the plastic ring that holds in the fuel pump/tank sender the tank can distort & the ring wont go back on. results in a new tank needed unfortunately.
