DAB radio for Xantia

Post by Xaccers »

I'm after a DAB radio which is compatible with the steering wheel controls of my 97 SX
When I got the car a year ago, I had a look around and found one for around £150-200 that could play mp3's via SD card but I can't for the life of me find the site again.

Any suggestions?

It's a Blaupunkt I have and it worked fine in my 97 SX.I might even be able to send you the adapter cable.

I found that the stubby roof aerial wasn't up to the DAB job so I fitted the longer version from a Renault 21 (I knew that worked because the DAB had previously been fitted to the Renault.. It's an identical mounting and I just screwed it onto the existing cable. The longer version can be found on many French cars of the era.

The DAB 52 I have is supposed to have a separate aerial for DAB but I just joined the centre of the two aerial sockets with a bit of wire shoved in. This arrangement has worked on three cars and only gives trouble when travelling through the Scottish Borders, where even analogue radios struggle for a signal.

What's the sound quality like on DAB?
I've heard it can be worse than FM because of the low bitrate.

Also, I'm sure there used to be a facia adaptor like the 405 had, with a panel that swung down covering the radio, does anyone know if its still available?

I have a Woodstock DAB52 from Blaupunkt and it works Great using a fixing panel to replace my Citroen radio. Sound quality is fantastic using the normal aerial. I got an adaptor to use with me steering wheel to operate the radio/Dab/CD/MMC card.
Have a look at www.bluespot.co.uk they have some great prices and products. I know because thats where I got my Multi changer for my Dab player.
