Radiator cap.

Post by alan s »

I've got a Xantia 2.0i that has been losing water. I recently just grabbed a cap off a wreck here to keep me going so I need the specs of the cap to get a new one.
Does anybody know what pressure the cap is on these? I've been told 2 bar but that seems a bit high to me and in a Country where parts guys look for what I need under "S" for Sitrun and "Z" for Xantia, my chances of getting correct info off one of them is quite remote.

The pressures are quoted in the Quinton Hazell catalogue.

Thanks mate.
For future reference it's 1.3 bar or 20 psi (as they say in English)

Changed the coolant a few months ago and left the cap loose for the following days to allow the eventual excess to overflow without pressure increase.
Nothing came out, there was no lowering of the level in the header tank.
Looks like at normal operating temperatures the cap only has to contain the slight increase in pressure from the expansion of the fluid.
