swapping turbos

Post by caveman_si »

Due to the demise of my turbo i have to swap it over and finding a 2nd hand one one is like looking for hens teeth in piles of rocking horse poo. (ive been quoted silly money for new ones hence looking 2nd hand)

BUt does any one know if the garrett GT1549s as fitted to the 2.1td peugeot 406 is a straight swap for garrett GT1549 as fitted to the 1.9TD 406?? As this is the closest ive come to finding one this week. (KKK's on the hand i can get loads of)

Its all about mounting flanges and bolt holes - and the oil piping.
May I suggest you purchase a couple of the different good values you have found - and then simply flog the surplus back on Ebay ?
To my logic it sounds like a foolproof option, as You then have a 95% chance getting the right one.

I'd defo go for whats available i.e. a KKK or Garrett - not even think about "performance" for a split second. Thats a boyracer issue IMHO
