Xantia Water Bleed Post Broken

Unread post by gbsmiley »

Changed my radiator today, bled air out of water system, tightened bleed nipple (nipped) and the post it screws on to snapped (239K ,seems to have gone brittle) .
It's the one on top of the engine which has 3 hoses; 2 moulded & one clip, seated on the engine mount.
Am I right in thinking that I will have to buy a new set set of hoses with the bleed assembly attached? (Haynes Manual,Page 1B.18, photo 28.4b), or is there some sort of repair kit.

all replies gratefully appreciated

regards,
gbsmiley :)

I would suggest screwing a self tapper into the hole if its not to big, or even an ordinary bolt if you can find one the right size.

Providing the car is after RP 6356, new hose is part no 1351 X7 and only costs £17.74 (links to the block above the glowplug and thermostat housing). Before RP 6356, the P/no is 96164773 and it costs about £85!!!

You may be lucky, but when I searched scrapyards for one of these they were all either brittle & cracked already, or had been chopped through when the engine was removed.
