Hi. My Xantia Hdi has now hit 75000, so its time for the timing belt change. I'll get the accessory belt done at the same time, is there anything else worth doing?
Also any recommendations of garages for the above job in the Newcastle area? Idea of price?
Thanks in advance

Well whilst you are there
1. Water pump
2 Check the main pulley wheel and tensioners as these can disintegrate

The HDI engines seem to eat the pumps mroe than the XUDs from what ive been told by a PUG expert and he always recomends a change with the belt as its cheap enough and also ensures the coolant is flushed regularly which is important for the engine as well
Better than getting a few months down the line to find it seeping and starting to die
They are a consumable part after all

My water pump was leaking - I had noticed a slow coolant loss - it was in for the belt change and my mechanic spotted a leak from the pump which figured with the water loss (either the pump or head gasket eh!?). May as well do it save having to do it in future - at the time I think the mileage was 85k on my hdi.
