Loosing my temper.......

Post by Sturdybloke »

Happy new year guys and girls. Been having a bit of a play around with the Xant in the last week. Still having probs with the wiring. Why the hell did they have to put allmost all the wires the same colour!!! I have trawled the net for the wiring codes (the numbers printed on the wires) and cant find anything. I (and im not joking) am starting to loose patience with the car now, with the probs it has - HG, the shot gearbox + d shafts I may just scrap it if I cant sort out the electrics and concentrate more on the other project I have (no, its not a citroen). Many thanks

P.S - Found Peugeot codes but not Citroen.

Hi Sturdy - I KNOW exactly what you're going through - my whole ignition
circuit decided it lost the will to live and went awol - it's taken ages to make
sense of what wiring diagrams say and what the car actually DOES...

what part of the wiring are you fighting with on yours?

I wonder if anybody has ever decided to replace the entire wiring on a Citroen?

Would take for ever I imagine, but suppose replace bit by bit everytime a job needs doing :-k

I've removed the entire wiring looms on Xm's, Cx's and Gs's when I've
gutted them out whilst scrapping them - I'm a bad magpie for keeping
everything!!

Worked out well for me as I got a CX GTi turbo going properly again when
I used a whole engine bay spur of a spare loom to replace a damaged
section on the car.

Replaced the stitched-in loom that powers the seats in an Xm too where
that trim level model never had that section wired in the first place.
Problem was it also ran through under the carpet to the rear doors from
the centre console and was a BIG hassle...

Mind I truly HATE car electrics, dealing with 'hidden' intangibles is far more
hassle than a leaking hyraulic pump or a slipping clutch... :D

Its the wires in the doors, for the central locking and deadlocks. Also having some electrical gremlins behind the dash and need to find out what wire/colour does.

Im thinking of pushing it into the Tawe (a river) at the moment!
