xantia erratic idle

xantia erratic idle
My 2.0LI vsx (early 155bhp) has developed an intermittent erractic idle, where it revs itself up occasionally when warm. It pulls well when cold but seems to lose some power when warm, is it the stepper motor and if so where is it coz the haynes book of lies doesn't cover this model in any detail. I have read previous posts on this subject and it all seems to point to either stepper motor or map sensor and I can't find that either. The ACAV valves work ok so can anyone help me on this PLEEEEEEZE.
