I've just bought a Xantia Estate with the HDi engine. It has done 93000 miles so will be due a timing belt very soon.
Is the timing belt any more difficult than on an XUD? My mate claims it's an engine-out job, but it looks to me like there is at least as much room down there as on the old engine.
Can anybody confirm how big a job it is?

That's just what I wanted to hear, thanks.
I did find the engine out bit hard to believe.
Even with the imminent timing belt job I think £1450 is a good price for a tidy 2000 estate with that engine. It's also got a soft engine mount and a missing red cover from the driver's door mirror but that's about all I can see.
