406 HDI Rocket!

Post by np »

Well,had my car re-mapped today.What a difference :D  :o
Its so much more responsive, faster through the gears,& acording to the fuel computer, average mpg went from 38.8 mpg on the way there,to 44.6 mpg on the way home, even with a heavy right foot  .
Even managed to get the front wheels to screech when changing into 2nd gear,in the dry   .
All this for £175,from the comfort of Will`s home in Staffs.Only took an hour.Very impressed.
After driving my b in laws Rover 75 1.8T,i reckon its as fast as that now :D .
I recomend it to anyone with a HDI.Just need to watch my Licence now!!

Which engine is it?

I'm thinking of having my 807 done.

I now expect this thread to turn into the usual argument about the rights and wrongs of remapping and an argument over how much damage it will do to the engine/drivetrain.

Let's not eh?

Hi Homer.Engine is 2.0 HDI 110,single cam 8 Valve.
All i`ll say is i ran my Xantia TD for 60K odd miles, boosted to 112 bhp & 180 odd LBFT of torque with no probs at all.
He does`nt list the 807 at the mo,but i expect yours is the 2.2 130 bhp Hdi?Re mapping or chipping will proberly take it to 160+ bhp :D ..I`m going to put a K &N filter on it too,as i`ll be keeping the car for a fair few years,& as i work in quarrys etc,the filter gets quite clogged in the summer. So being able to clean it,& lasting a life time will pay for its self. Will(the re mapper)recomended a filter to make it even better.

It's the 110bhp 2.0 engine, does a good job of lugging 2 tonnes around but I should have gone for the 2.2 (and will if I get another).

There used to be a guy on here who had a 2.2 C5 estate remapped to (he claimed) 180bhp until someone parked a saxo in the boot.
