Does anyone fancy saving a VERY RARE Cx GTi being scrapped

I feel I have to make a plea to anyone who's a Citroen addict and fancies
something different and RARE! I don't know the seller or the actual car,
but these fabulous Citroens are under my skin in a BIG way, and I hate
to see one being scrapped...

more so than Xantia Activas!

Despite my wanting to say to this ebay seller I'll have it for £150,
I can't save them all and I'm up to my full quota of projects!!

IMHO, this IS THE BEST CX of 'em all - the best looks, the best interior
(by a mile) and the turbo petrol engine that's simply astounding - OK,
not to everyone's taste if they're a DERV user I'll concede! I believe I'm
right in saying the metal bumper turbos were never imported in any
significant numbers and we're talking 600 odd of all types NEW in the UK
which includes the plastic bumpered series 2's...

There can't be many available now, in truth, I've probably got a fair
%'age of the remaining ones!!

the car is complete it needs a small amount of welding under the drivers side wing the fuel pump relay plays up. it dosent need much realy it was on the road in june of this year.
i will sell the complete car if you want to make me a realistic offer

There wont be many chances for getting a series 1 CX turbo GTi - I believe
Citroen must have managed about 100-200 before it got the placky bumpers
and facelift dash - I'd recon one of these will be the same as a frogeye DS
with all the bells and whistles.

The seats are by far the most comfortable I've ever travelled in for hours
and hours. This is the one to get - the wumph is absolutely wonderful, the
original interior with the 70's doortrims and that nacelle/lunule and best of
all those fantastic looks; OF COURSE I'm totally biased, best Citroen I've
ever driven...

This car is emminently saveable but someone's bidding 50 quid for the
engine so it doesn't look good.

I rate this particular model CX so highly I've succumbed to multiple purchase
duplication rather than see them being trashed, or worse, scrapped!

Obviously there must be a lot of folks in the UK who have never driven a CX; these are the creme de la cream of motor cars. Possibly one of the safest cars ever built, definitely one of the most comfortable and that model was never imported into Australia by the distributors, but there have been several privately imported.
I've owned several CX 2400 and 2200s but unfortunately, their interiors don't like the Aussie sun, but as a high performance long distance tourer, they have few equals. If anybody has a place to store and rebuild it back to its original glory, they must fast be becoming an appreciating investment at the way they're disappearing.

I would dearly love to have that, but it is a bit far from me to collect, and I've nowhere to store it really, and I've already got 2 projects in the garage, a house that needs a load of work doing on it, how bad do you think that rust is really, if I think of few more reasons, maybe it won't seem like such a good idea buying it

Yesbut...

sounding all deep and profound...

I've found with cars/parts on ebay sometimes when something presents
itself I've had to go for it even though it's not actually practical or convenient
to do so at the time; but I've ended up thanking myself at a later date.

Sod's law says when you do fancy a CX Gti turbo you'll have to wait another
2 years...

Those Cxs must be a fantastic motor, it was a lift in a CX which first got me hooked on citroens, but all that rot.... If I had a workshop, a mig and six months then it might be worth considering but otherwise its best left well alone.

Cynics!! I understand reluctance where everyone is used to running galved Xantiae etc though...

The french don't attach any value or emotion to older cars and it's actually
us brits who love and restore the old D's - I'd personally think the Cx IS
now being slowly appreciated - mine attracts plenty of attention and
chatter with strangers everywhere I go - NOW a turbo Gti deserves more
respect - no other way to describe it - it IS A VERY unique and now sadly
rare car.

The rust at that point of the front wheelarch is due to a metal jam jar lid
sized 'grommet' at the foot of the front face of the sill being unseated
and the weather has broken onto the surrounding skin face.

Mind, I've chopped up a crashed Cx and seen the inner A pillar which IS
substantial and I believe it can withstand surface rusting quite well. The
patch at the corner of the back screen is an odd area I've not seen 'go'
before - may be poor painting from a replacement rear 1/4 panel. That's
in the area where the genuine Citroen panel laps in and is lead loaded
over on the front outer face

I see the fact the car doesn't have a sunroof is actually a bonus as this
wont have caused grot in the body structure from blocked drains and the
sunroof is usually the rutiest poinyt on a Cx anyway.
