C5 Estate Tailgate Lock

Tailgate lock not working, can only be opened in emergency mode using screwdriver as per handbook, have checked lock itself and that works ok as does the switch on the tailgate handle, does anyone have any idea of how the circuit works? or any idea of the fault?

Have you checked the switch for continuity? If it closes the contacts well, then the problem is the unlocking solenoid. It's a bit of hard job to do, confined space and you have to rip the thin foam insulation to reach it

Multifunction display works correctly and says boot open when lock activated by hand, also another fault that has become apparent is that the rear roof interior light comes on and stays on when ignition made.
