Xantia V6 Cruise control

Anyone know the answer to this one?

The action of the cruise control on my Xantia is rather harsh due to the amount by which the throttle opens when speed begins to drop being too great. This makes for a "bang-bang" type of control rather than a smooth one. Is there any way of adjusting the degree of throttle opening which the system calls for? I do not know whether the throttle activation is set by a mechanical linkage or by yet another electronic box.

Other cars I have driven seem to have a much more proportional response to speed changes and consequently give a smoother drive under cruise control.

I don't have a solution to your problem, but I can confirm that the progression should be seamless..... mine is! So should yours..

Sticky cable possible or weak motor that works on the accelerator cable if it has one as i wouldn think it maybe uses a stepper motor as IRIC they arent fully fly by wire are they?

mine is quite harsh, especially when you first turn it on..?

and if you ask it to decelerate too much it can kangeroo a bit...

Yep, seems to work on the cable, as the pedal moves up and down without your foot on

i didnt know CC worked like this on older cars..! obviouls really tho..

You can adjust it using the rod and bucket thingy by the throttle linkage. The ball ended rod from the butterfly cam fits into an adjustable tube type affair attached to the bellows, which should screw back and forth.

Thanks everybody for the help. Particular thanks to Stempy for his reply and also for his one on August 12 which I found after I had posted my original msg.

Will try adjustment of the rod and bucket this w/e and report results.
