Smell of petrol

Post by droylsden dave »

Hi gents

Ive just replaced coil pack as a previous post, now there is a smell of petrol in the car when stood in traffic. Whilst driving it isnt noticable. Its obviously coming through air vents. Just had a look under bonnet and there is a smell, but to me, nothing obvious.

Any help will be appreciated!!

Cheers

Whenever I have smelt petrol when driving and it's usually when stopped in traffic or when alighting.. I have always found a small leak in a fuel line somewhere often fixed by tightening up clamp or if perished... cutting off half inch or so and reterminating line if length is long enough.
Leak only needs to be a minute small wet patch to be smellable. If nothing obvious in engine bay may have to look around tank/filler pipesand lines under the car.
