Citroen Berlingo 1.8 petrol intermittent idling speed fault

Post by scrutt »

Hello

I've got a Citroen Berlingo Multispace 1.8 petrol, year 2000. Intermittently the idling speed will increase to about double what it should be, sometimes rising and falling between the two. Ocassionally it will also not start, which tends to happen around the same times that the idling fault manifests itself. There are no obvious faults, which would lead me to believe that it might be something to do with the ECU or the throttle valve(?). Has anyone had any similar problems and if so I'd be grateful if you could point me in the right direction.
