S2 will all be colour coded bumpers/door rubbing strips and this one hasn't.
Who'd want an ex-taxi even if it is on a W plate!? The all white reversing tail
lamps are right S2 though...

You see a lot of 1999/2000 models here in Ireland with black strips on the bumpers...

I prefer the black contrast - as the Citroen designers intended it to be from
the outset - my white S1 estate looks fabulous with it's kick up in the
waistline and all the windows in shadow - seen an all white S2 equivalent
and felt violently ill!

FWIW, IMHO the last of the S1's (95-96) are the best looking Xantiae with
black trim contrasting the shape better and fitted with non fading tail lamps.
For me although I've got a few S2's the bonnet grille on the S2 looks a tad
Xsara and a bit pointier...

This seller appears to have bought, and sold many cars, looking through the feedback they are vehicles that require some work done to them.

Looking at the other examples in Ross-K post it appears that there were other Xantias made without colour coded bumpers. Although surely these are to special order, and Taxi specification.

When a modern car does not have colour coded bumpers it does not look as good as one with them.

If I had not seen the other examples of unpainted trim, then I would have concluded that the car has had some bodywork done, and then the owner could not be bothered to get the items painted.

As the car has covered 280k I still think that they might have changed items, because this vehicle has covered a lot of mileage, and had previously been used as a Taxi, with that sort of mileage, and being used as a cab, there would be damage that would need attending to. This specification has helped the seller to get it repaired cheaply, but the unpainted finish does not look good.

Not necessarily, my bog standard 97R TD doesn't have aircon. By that stage the "base" version was only available to fleet buyers in the UK, mine was part of a huge batch of Xantias sold to Midland/HSBC bank. If they ordered in large enough quantities I think they could more or less ask for whatever options they wanted (or not).

ah ok...but on the upside my air con has never worked properly (long tale of woe) and it makes it hard to change the oil filter (the first time).....hmmm maybe i should buy cars that people have actually serviced
