Xantia Radio question

Hi all, I am thinking of fitting the standard early Xantia radio in my camper..
Reasons include

no one would want to nick it,
sound is good enough quality,
and has that 'line-in' which is so so useful.

Question,
Can anyone see why I can't fit the steering wheel controls in the back of the van somewhere so I have some semblance of remote control? Its only one wire, a resitor bank and the buttons? (assuming I can get them all out of steering wheel ok)

can anyone give me a code for this unit? the numbers on it are :

BP2775T9624446, and also 7 642 775 394

Blaupunkt PH1/C, with 96 133 457 80
