how to bleed a xantia

Hello,
I've replaced the two front strut tops on my Xantia, do I need to bleed the system to get fluid back into the struts? or do I just close the pressure release bolt on the accumulator and start the car?

Tighten the bolt, start her up, watch the fluid level and do the citaerobics a few times - that should do it

set the hight to maximum,start the engine,hold the revs up to about 2,500 and keep it there for about 30seconds,then close the bleed valve

Which bleed valve would that be then??????

So what would be the best method, start the car with the pressure release bolt opened, or with it closed? I'm going to be starting the car tomorrow so any help would be great.

with the presure release valve open after the car has finnished rising,the valve is the 12mm bolt head which is on the front of the presure regulater,open it no more than about 3 quarters of a turn

The car won't rise with the valve open.

You want to tighten it, then start the car. Move the suspension up and down a few times and that's all you should need.

Thanks for that, I started it with the valve closed, went through the suspension settings and everything's ok.

the idea of leaving the valve open for about 30 seconds after starting the engine then shut the valve allows some air to escape,in all th years i have worked on and around citroens i have always done this and all of the citroen garages i have worked for do it
