Peugeot 1.5 tud problem

Post by gbsmiley »

Girlfriends,1.5 diesel has developed an irritating fault;could do with some pointers.
From cold ,starts fine, but cuts out when revved/under load.Once warmed up everything is fine.

thanx in advance

@AndersDK

Fuel filter renewed 3,000 miles ago,due to starting problems, which turned out to be stop solenoid, which was replaced.
Fuel pump has clear pipe, can't see any bubbles.
Engine starts 1st turn every time, even after cutting out.
Car is regularly serviced by me, oil is not contaminated (ie HG ).

Any ideas?

thanx

Ok silly me, didn't look properly :oops:

Air bubbles coming from fuel filter feedpipe.(didn't notice that pipe last time).
How many components to check/change?

Obvious ones appear "fuel Filter" & "black rubber hose" from fuel filter housing outlet, connecting to clear hose.

thanx

Our Saxo shows the same problem, but only when the tank gets down to below a 1/4 full. All the time the tank is fairly full, there's never any hesitation.

Sometimes the priming bulbs can split - allowing air in, and fuel then goes back to the tank - leaving you with only what's in the filter / lines.

One method I've read about is to use something like vaseline around the joins ( one at a time ) - if the problem goes away, then that's the join to fix.
