Changing glow plugs

Post by philhoward »

Am I lucky, or does the ZX TD with a Lucas pump have the easiest access? I've just changed the set of 4 in less than half an hour with just a socket set. Only dropped one nut as well...

This was without the aid of a magnetic screwdriver, and it was on a hot engine.

Never tried a Xantia, though..

the 2.1 looks like its got very clear access but our last xantia and current 1.9td version has one hidden behind the pump :( always a bugger and a half to get to but not sure if its because the bosche pump is beefier...

Seems it is in fact easier to do with Lucas pumps fitted. On my BX17TD is was no drama replacing all 4 glowplugs - and its got a Lucas pump as well.
My SIL have a 19RD with a Bosch pump - was indeed quite entertaining replacing plug no 4 ...

Indeed.

Pitty ive not come across a thing such as long life glow plugs or high power ones for us veggie abusers :D

I just need to find somewhere that sells 200/100litre drums a bit cheaper than costco ones or will give you discount if you re-use drums :)
