Xantia heater blower sorted

Post by pete@co.uk »

Hi Guys

Well ive just done my 1.9 td xantia heater blower today (it was,nt working at all) although with mine the heated rear window worked that ruled out the ign switch anyway after taking the the motor out and testing the curcuits to the fuse and then the resister then the motor with my multimeter i found the couse of the problem it was the small resister in the pack that had packed up so i replaced the unit for one from the scrappies and now my heater works a treat :D although mine is a non airconditioned car so i suppose it makes life a little easer, now ive just have the dash lights to sort out.

hi peter. n.

i found the part straight away in a scrap car which i suppose was lucky i replaced the complete resistor pack it just twists out and its right next to the blower motor took me all of five minutes to get it out. tried it in mine and it worked paid £5 and left.

Was it this thing that had packed up ?
If so, I think that it’s the fuse that blows for no reason.
It’s a 170ºC thermal fuse.
You may have been able to replace it with something else.
In time, these things may become scarce, and may need repairing.

Hi Clogzz

Yes thats the part i replaced on mine it was the resistor in the middle that had gone ( it was,nt conducting) so i replaced the complete unit there,s plenty of these cars about here and also a lot in the scrappies so i dont think there,s a problem getting this part or any other parts as yet.
