Over time an intermittent fault on my 1996 106 1.5 XLD has got worse and now the indicator relay constantly does a high sped click (as though a bulb has blown) when the indicators are turned off. Whilst clicking neither the dashboard bulb or the actual indicators flash. When operated from the indicator lever all of the indicators operate correctly.
I have tried nudging the indicator lever in both directions but this does not stop the clicking.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Try checking the relays. I had a very similar sounding problem on my 96 405.
It has only happened the once however I think when getting out or back into the car after that journey I kicked some of the relays in the footwell. Its not happened since. Of course that might be pure coincidence, but they might be the next best place to try.

After a while, the Xantias can also tend to do this too.
An old trick with them is to get into the car and before starting off, turn the "hazard" light on and leave them flash for about a minute. Switch them off and the problem should be gone.
It may take a few of these treatments, but in most cases with the Xantias, it does the trick.
Seems the contacts get slightly corroded inside the unit and tyhis basically "blows it off" and gives a cleaner contact surface thereby eliminating the cause.
Can't speak for a Pug, but has to be worth a try.
