wiring question

Post by Sturdybloke »

Afternoon all. Got a couple of questions about airbag wiring numbers/codes. As my Xantia never had a airbag fitted to it as standard (its a 93 MY on a 'L') a previous owner has retrofitted one to the car .....All of the components seem to have come from a april/may 1996 model year from what I can tell from the stamps on some of the components - the steering wheel, seatbelt pre-tensioners and the trigger sensor under the center console. What and where do the following wires go to or control???

Orange wire - Number 478
Yellow wire - Number CC4
Green wire - Number MC02K
Brown wire - Number 6506

Anyone got any idea? Much appreciated - Anthony

I have a funny feeling that retro fitting airbags is something that only the original manufacturer is permitted to do . . . .

You may well bump into some difficulties when you MOT it.

In the two years that I have had the car, I have never had a problem with the MOT. And it was fitted with the bag before I got the car (so how long it has been fitted to the car???) a fair few years probably as the dates on items are stamped 1996 (due for renewal soon then  )

Its not part of the current test. I was just pointing out to NiSk that in the time that I have had the car the "retrofitted" bag has never been a problem (so far). Any idea on the numbers on the wiring (listed above)?
