xantia td alarm led problem now sorted

Post by pete@co.uk »

Hi Guys

When locking up my 95 td xantia and putting the deadlocks on the led on the dash does not flash it just remains dimly lit all the time even when the alarm is not activated although the remote central locking is working perfect and so,s the deadlocks.

any ideas guys

Sounds like a bad earth to me. Possibly on the dash somewhere.

And Peugeots are famous for bad earths! :(

Citroens as well I think.

hi guys

ok ive got to the root of this problem after checking out the bulb on the dash (the bulb was not dimly lit as i first said it was not on at all i was looking at the colour of the bulb   ) and then the control box under the passengers seat (i tried the one out of my other xantia that i know works) that did,nt work so i tried the box that was,nt working in my other car and the box worked.

so then i did some checking and found there was no power in the alarm system scatching my head i thought check the fuses and low and behold i found the problem someone had removed the fuse for the alarm system so i replaced the fuse and everthing worked ok just had to reset the alarm with the switch on the dash then all was ok.

now the only problem i have there now is the switch under the bonnet is not turning the siren on or off it just keeps going round and catching now and agian and the siren is turned off. i know this becouse it cought once and i turned off the siren, now i cant turn it back on agian.

Its like a normal lock barrel so could you not swap the barrel out with one from a door one at all??

Have you sprayed some WD40 down it and ensured you push the key RIGHT back in it and try tilting the key a little as well :)

There's probably a very good reason the fuse it out and the siren turned off......

You neighbours may not thank you for turning it back on again

My fuse was out and for good reason, the alarm worked for about 4 minutes and then started to go off, fuse pulled once more

Hi Guys

Well the alarm has been fine no problems :D. But ill have to look at the switch under the bonnet i tried what you said KP said but it made no differance so im going to have to take it apart. i turned it off, now i cant turn it back on again it just keeps going round!.. Then maybe i upset the neighbours   but i know everythings ok so that,ll not be the case.
