Xsara question

Unread post by boroboy »

Hi all,
Is there much difference between the 99 Xsara 1.4 & the new shape 01 Xsara 1.4? Apart from the obvious face lift. Same engine? Interior?

Thinking about changing my 99 Xsara for a newer lower mileage 01 Xsara.

New to Citroens you see

Thanks.

All the electronics were revised to be similar to the Picasso and C5
The suspension is supposed to be different
I think all new Xsara come on 15" wheels (same size as old VTS i think)
Many specification differences
Longer service intervals??
Better headlamps
Possibility of 2.0 HDI 110 (Fast!)

In 2001 I had the choice of paying £1000 more for a Y reg 1.4 L (no luxuries but new shape) than a v reg 1.4 west coast with air con.

I chose the older car just to get the luxuries.

The Xsara is pretty plain but is reliable. Why not consider a C5? They don't cost much more to buy or run.

bencowell,
Thanks for the reply. I own a 99 Xsara 1.4 LX (no aircon). Have seen a 2001 Xsara 1.4, with 30,000 miles on the clock, one owner & FSH going for £2,300, in a garage. Thought that was a good buy, wouldn't get a C5 for that. Don't get me wrong, I do like the C5's, C2's (GT) & the C3's.
