Citroen Xantia Throttle return problem

Unread post by amerkarim »

Hi everyone, please help me.

I have a 1.9 TD Xantia estate that has a problem with the throttle return system. It runs fine, except when I step on the clutch after having the revs up, like approaching a roundabout. The RPM falls as the clutch is depressed and drops quickly below the idle at which point the engine judders and sometimes cuts out. I suspect the return damper for the throttle is malfunctioning.

I have examined the return plastic vacum damper and it seems to be OK when the engine stationary and cold, has anyone else had this problem and can anyone suggest an easy fix?

Thanks,

AK

All racing green Xantia's do this sir.

Sorry - you dont tell us yearmodel & mileage - which are good hints to possible solutions.

There is normally a laid down procedure for adjusting the pump 'anti stall' function, but as Anders says we need to know the year and type of pump.

Does it have electronic management, is the throttle cable connected to the pump, if so, what make is the pump, it will either be Bosch or Lucas/CAV/ rotodiesel.
