Xantia blower motor, just for a change!

Hi all,
For my sins, I have bought another xantia, a 1.9 td sx,1997, with aircon.
the heater blower does not work.
I have changed the resistor pack on the motor, (second hand, but seen working on a peugeot 405) and also the ignition switch.
The blower does not run at all with the separate single black wire connected at the motor end (its a much thinner guage wire than the wires going into the motor via the multi plug) but when you disconnect this wire, the fan runs continuously, regardless of switch position!
Anyone know what it could be?

Try do a search on Xantia blower fan. We had a long thread not long ago on exactly this issue.
