Xantia Self-locking boot

Post by macaroni »

Hi,
My Xantia boot locks itself after a few minutes of being unlocked. Does anyone know if there is some sort of spring or something that prevents the central locking solenoid from creeping back into the locked position?

Any help gratefully received.

Hi,

I had the same problem, and solved it as described in this thread:

It looks like the rubber bellows are supposed to keep the solenoid either in or out, but I think it gets soft with age.

Cool, I didn't realise it was such a common problem, I guess I should have searched first!

Would it be worth replacing the rubber bellows as a first attempt?
Your fix looks good, but beyond my level of competence.

Cheers,

It might work to replace the rubber bellows, but the problem will probably return (in 10 years time).
Or you could get a universal solenoid. Others have used that with success.
