Exhaust front pipe to manifold joint.

Post by bxbodger »

Hello all, I have got a new front pipe for the BX, and the pipe to manifold joint is the ball/socket type with sprung bolts.

I have never assembled one of these in my life- I've only ever done the old clamp type.

My question is, are these ball/socket joints assembled dry or do I still need to use a bit of muffler paste?

Thanks!!

In theory, a special grease should be used, but I haven't found a dealer yet who knows anything about it!
Don't use paste - the joint is designed to allow a degree of movement - dry assembly is fine in practice.

It has to be high temp stuff and copperslip is the most popular.
