Hello again,
Following on from my 110 bhp HDI C5's lack of turbo boost I have switched my investigations to the vacuum pump as, according to my neihbourhood mechanic, there is not much vacuum at the wastegate. There is just enough suck at the disconected pipe to feel it, it hardly pulls your skin off!! Anybody know how much vacuum there should be? The exhaust blockage suggestion has been ruled out, by the way.
Many thanks,
John.

if you remove the cover over the n/s/f sphere you will find 3 electrovalves one is for the turbo wastegate & the other 2 are for the EGR valve & the EGR throttle butterfly.follow the pipes to see which is which as they are all identical (which means you can swap them around for testing ). also check that the pipes are clear by blowing through them with compressed air. i think the vac pump should draw 0.8 bar but as already said they are quite reliable.
Brilliant help - thanks very much !! I shall have a play tomorrow. If I can't figure out what is going wrong I shall try a local Bosch agent - found one not too far away who advertises himself as a Citroen specialist. If it turns out to be something simple then that will be one in the eye for the Citroen dealership!!wheeler wrote:if you remove the cover over the n/s/f sphere you will find 3 electrovalves one is for the turbo wastegate & the other 2 are for the EGR valve & the EGR throttle butterfly.follow the pipes to see which is which as they are all identical (which means you can swap them around for testing ). also check that the pipes are clear by blowing through them with compressed air. i think the vac pump should draw 0.8 bar but as already said they are quite reliable.

SOLUTION FOUND !!
Hello all,
Thanks for all suggestions - especially those advising a Bosch specialist. I visited my local garage who have Bosch diagnosis equipment and the problem was quickly eliminated: a plastic pipe to the wastegate had touched the manifold at some point in time, melted a hole and sealed itself!! 4.5 hours of scratching head by a Citroen technician and 30 mins of investigate and repair by the local mechanic - guess which one I'll be using in future? C5 now back to its' former glory.....VROOOOM!!

John.
