Bouncy Rear suspension

Post by alanar »

Hi,

I have just purchased a 1995 Xanta 2.0 16v VSX. Car drives really nice however there are a couple of problems hopefully someone can help me with.

1. The rear suspension feels really floaty when going over bumps, All other suspension works ok and car rises and drops when it should.

2. The Heater fan does not work but there is a soft buzzing noise from behind dash

3 Electric Mirrors do not work at all. All other electrics work perfectly.

Hope somone acna help.

Thanks

It then would have air conditioning ? :?
If yes, here:

If not, it’s still the ignition switch, or this speed-regulating resistor is open:

You've got bouncy and floaty suspension? Normally two opposite causes. Its bouncy if the spheres are flat but to be 'floaty' they must be good but possibly the wrong type.

Definatley bouncy, If I go over a speed bump then the front is ok but the rear will bounce at least twice.

If you try to push the rear suspension down by hand is it stiff or soft ? (You should be able to nearly bottom the suspension just by pushing by hand)

As Mandrake says. There should be about 6" of movement on each wheel, if none or very little, requires new spheres. Assuming it is riding at the correct height i.e. not resting on bump stops.

I went to check it this morning but was peeing it down so just got in and drove away. Funny thing is this time by the end of the 25 min journey rear suspension was working perfectly.

Sticking height corrector valve. Squirt several applications of WD40 on the linkage.

I have checked it and when engine is running i can push down on each corner pretty well with all of my weight behind it, not easy though.

Have fixed heating by replacing pollen filter and also while i was there giving motor a good whack.
